Apparently, Democrat David Edwards is concerned about Republican Everett Curry's religion in his bid for the 30th District House race... but he got a little mixed up about what kind of Baptist Curry is. From The Oregonian:
Last week I learned some voters received push-poll calls making an issue of Curry's religion. Businessman Erick Jones, a registered independent, was asked in a polling call if his feelings about Curry would change if he learned Curry was affiliated with the "radical religious right" or a Baptist minister. Others received similar calls.
Curry is indeed a minister in the American Baptist Church, the most liberal of the 33 Baptist denominations. But he has no church, though he preaches whenever he can. He makes his living as a fundraiser for nonprofits.
